Let’s stop and take an honest inventory of our times. Not only will this enable us to see where we find ourselves, spiritually speaking, but it will help us understand how to apply the apostle John’s mysterious statement: “many antichrists have appeared; from this we know that it is the last hour” (1 John 2:18). When pondering those words in light of today, it becomes obvious that such a statement is incredibly insightful. We can begin to see more clearly the disturbing realities of our times and, with hope, navigate our way through the cultural maze of humanism, scepticism, and postmodernism.
